St Mary’s, Hartley Wespall
The oldest parts of St Mary’s date from about 1330 so it was a privilege for us to help bring the church back to its former glory.
Externally we carefully repaired the render on the back wall protecting the almost 700 year old timber frame. It was then coated in multiple layers of white limewash.
Internally, blown and damaged plaster was removed and re plastered with lime. Scaffolding was erected over the organ to provide access above, and the pews where lifted allowing us full access to the walls. All walls were finished in a breathable Rose of Jericho paint. A number of floor tiles were replaced using reclaimed tiles from reclamation yards all around country.
